
Commissioned Works
On many occasions during my career it has been my privilege to be asked to paint commissioned works for clients. These works were extremely diverse in subject matter, covering the spectrum from family gatherings and special days needing to be encapsulated and set down on canvas, to children’s character studies in a land or seascape and some even evoking distant memories of a client’s childhood with toys, objects and settings recreated. The range of these covered the gamut of emotions including joy, sadness and wistfulness to depictions of workplaces, times of togetherness and beauty.
It has been an absolute pleasure and honour to create these bespoke pieces and always interesting from a compositional point of view to bring together many disparate elements into a unified scene. As a lot of these commissioned works involve memories of the past I like to describe them as heritage paintings, works of beauty that will be passed down and cherished by the next generation and beyond.
